Explanation
Sheave is the pulley that the halyard runs on at the top of the mast.When your C-22 was made the only way to get the required balance of stretch, strength, and size was to use a wire/rope halyard. Since then ropes have been developed that have the desired characteristics. Sta-set X from New England ropse is one such rope. It will be a lot better with all rope. For one, you can turn it end-for-end as it wears. You can make these halyards yourself, but you must splice (eye splice) the shackle rather than simply tie it - a knot in this type of rope will reduce strength by as much as 50%. I've done the splices myself in Sta-set X, its not hard. jv
