I have recently purchased a 1976 22' model that needs a lot of work. I got it for just a few hundred bucks. I have calculated most of the cost to get the boat in sailing condition except..... ants!!! These things have apparently been having a buffet for some time on the wood inside the hull of the boat. I wondering if I should scrap this one for parts and find another used 22. I'm by no means an expert and if this damage cannot be repaired(if so, how???) or if it would be very expensive or time consuming I'm not sure it will be worth it. Anty comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thank You

Dead ants

I would bug bomb the boat...several times and then do a real good inspection. There really isn't all that much wood on the boat. I have a 79 and i have very little wood...bulkheads, table, stoage doors and a few items. Are the ants in the deck between the fiberglass ? if not ..heck don't see how much the little beggers can eat. They don't eat fiber glass do they? don't think so, so heck check it out real good and go for it. BUT if ya get spooked...i need a slide in galley for my boat...lol Good Luck, the 22' is a great little boat! Bill "Nameless" Pt. Orange, FL wbellcyber@netscape.net
