Careening

I have "careened" Cin Cin numerous times (quite unintentionally of course). As the tide would go out, we would find ourselves high and dry, and simply waited for it to return. She simply slowly righted herself, and we never got a drop of water on board. I admit it was a little scary the first time, but after that it was simply uncomfortable, especially at night when we wanted to sleep. Frank sv 2184, Cin Cin

A recent article in Good Old Boat magazine (I highly recommend it) suggests
that, when careening, intentionally or otherwise, try to assure that the mast
lays toward the shallower water, thus the keel is deeper. This gives a
little more benefit of floating before water may have a path into the boat.
I am sure I changed the wording some, but the idea is the same.
