Jim, My 1984 Hunter 34 has not seen much wax in its life. I waxed the "non-skid" bubbles on the deck once and found afterwards that it acted like ball bearings. I now find waxing too hard on my wrists (carpal tunnel syndrome from using the computer too much). Needless to say, my poor boat needs some TLC now. The white gel coat is a bit oxidized. What would you recommend to use and in what order? Thanks, Doug

Color Restoration of Gel Coat

Doug, I have a 1990 Hunter 33.5 and have sucessfull used Dolphinite Compound and Color Restorer. Rub it on and buff it out with an buffing machine. I followed that with Dolphinite T-Wax applied with a pad by hand and buffed that out also. Very good results. On the non-skid areas I used Aurura Boat soap to clean off all the old surface coatings. I then applied Aurora Sure Step an a wax on the non-skid. You dont lose any tracktion with the sure stem. Again, very good results. Good luck. Dick S/V Puffin

May I suggest...............

No, you cannot wax non-skid unless you want to go skating. If non-skid is not white in color you could use an acrylic like poliglyow or Newglass (available in this chandlery)Aurora also make a non-skid sealant called suregrip (available in Boaters World) or yo could wait until(or after) Sail Expo in Oakland CA (APril 18-22) and buy our own non-skid sealant that is not an acrylic and certainly works well on my own boat. As for the hull, you might want to try our SEA GLOW (if a shite, blue red etc "bright-colored") gelcoat. If beige brown etc use our CLEAR cleanser/conditioner. These products act by DISSOLVING away the oxidation and stains, NOT GRINDING it away as with compound. THerefore no need for machines or hard wrist action. You can seal with our spray on Silkenseal, and then use a paste wax, but (IF YOU DONT WANT MACHINES OR WRIST ACTION). Apply one or two coats of our SIMPLY BRILLIANT SUperwax. Just wipe it on with paper towel. Just try to avoid rainy conditions (that can dull the mirror finish altought he surface is still protected and can be shine with SIlkenseal). If you want more info and pics see www.IslandGirlProducts.com, but if you do buy please do the right thing and buy via www.Sailboatowners.com Regards Jim Willis

Yes- its a misprint!`

In previous reply "May I suggest..." it should read "white" not "shite" for the color of gelcoat! Jim W

New Product???

You mentioned a non-skid sealant that could be purchased after 4/22. Is this a new product you are offering? If so, could you give the particulars and how to purchase? Thanks, Lysle lysle_s@hotmail.com
