Carbon fiber mast prep for painting

I have a Freedom 40/40 with a carbon fiber mast. The boat is at RAM marina in the Rio Dulce area of Guatemala. The mast is painted with Awl Grip.

I want to have the mast repainted and am wondering what process should be used to prep it. My concern is that they seem to sandblast everything, and I'm thinking that might not work well with carbon fiber.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Don't really know the answer, but it seems to me blasting with a soda blast media would work well with your carbon fiber mast. What media are they planning to use?

I recommend contacting a carbon fiber mast maker and asking them. Two that I know of are Composite Engineering and Offshore Spars. Heck, contact both of them!
