Alden Caravelle 42 / Northern European waters
There's a Caravelle thread developing on the SailNet board here. Includes photos of the Hodgdon built "Caravelle '71's" 992P Banjo Girl, and 992S Sensu.

One board's enough for me, so I'll comment here. I've never experienced the upwind "hobby-horsing" someone talks about. To me "Caravela of Exe" is the perfect all round performer, but of course at her best off the wind.

Having just purchased a Caravelle myself (992M), I'd just like to say they seem to behave well in most conditions and are certainly one of the most beautiful hulls on the water. Mr. Alden sure designed some pretty boats. Although this thread appears to be quite dated, I'm looking forward to hearing from other owners.

Alden 38' Challenger yawl Rockport Harbor
Welcome aboard. I've seen 992M anchored nearby in Merchant Row a few years ago. She's a real beauty. I also rowed around a Caravelle in North East Harbor a week ago. I assume it's the same one Iain has listed as SERENA but I can't recall if that was the name or not.

I'm glad you found us, I hope you'll have some photos to post of your boat. Where are you sailing out of?
