I am trying to trace down and fix an intermittent infiltration of water into the starboard cabin area. Has anyone out there had experience with a product called Captain Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure? Positive or negative, along with any substitutions for this product.

The product is designed...

primarily for stress cracks/crazing, however, I've found that it works fine for filling chips, scratches, to bed non-critical things like lazerette hinges etc...good product all around...

Rick My understanding is a little different than Tim's since it's supposed to fill relatively small voids within surfaces, not just surface cracks and crazes. After rebedding one of our lower shroud chainplates last fall, there was still a small leak. Perhaps we had tightened up the bolts before the silicone cured. In any event, because it was the rainy season, I chose to try Captn. Tolly's. Following the instructions, and over the period of a week or two, I squirted liberal amounts of it at the base of the chainplate and all around the fitting at the deck level. After this treatment, the leak stopped. Now that it's nicer out, we'll have to rebed the fitting to make sure there isn't any deck rot, but it sure seems to work. Just need patience, since it takes a few applications, most likely depending on the depth or extent of the problem. In your case, you haven't identified where you think the leak is coming from. If it's from a small area, this stuff seems to work. anything larger would most likely require a different product. It's a whitish liquid, pretty thin. Good luck. Stu

Creeping Crack Cure?

Pull your pants up! Sorry... Seriously, it's good stuff to have on hand for those pesky SMALL cracks that dribble only a drop or 2 of water. Trevor

leak fixer

I have used this stuff for the last 4 yrs on a prior persistant leak in the stern lockers of my 29.5. There is a leak by the ladder bolts. When i squirt some on the ladder bolts there is no leaking at all for an entire season. stuff works great. give it a try and it doesnt stain. It is very thin and can find the leak that water can and plugs it up.
