I've used it.. it's a penetration epoxy that wicks through the crack into the wood core to stop small leaks but it will not hide the cracks.. it's reddish brown when it dries... .. so I don't think you'd find it acceptable for your spider crack repair. Here's a description of a more conventional repair method: http://www.boatus.com/magazine/2011/december/diy.asp.

CTCCC (Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure) is an acrylic, not epoxy, per their website. It goes on milky white, and then dries dark, thus accentuating your gelcoat cracks. Don't ask me how I know... It is also VERY runny, and won't stay confined to the spider crack well, so you'll be tempted to let it go all over the uncracked surface, thinking that the milky will dry clear. It won't, it will darken. Sigh.

On the other hand, I think I had a little leak under my teak toe rail. I ran the CTCCC under the toe rail, and so far I see no evidence of the leak continuing. I'm thinking this off-season will be the year to replace the toe rails anyway, so I can be sure they are properly bedded with Life Caulk or whatever...

It does work as advertised. I haven't seen any evidence of the dried color issue.

My initial thought was that anything down in the crack, even a known clear substance, would probably make the appearance of the crack more noticeable...

Over the years, I had good luck with Capt Tolley, especially for leaks at the hull/deck joint and stanchion bases.

I used the crack cure where I had a sometime leak in my Cat 30 portlites when it rained. It worked for about 3 yrs and is again leaking. I can't blame the Captain as much as a 30+ yr old boat.

Has anybody used this for spider cracks and if so, what are your thoughts?
I have used Capt. Tolleys before and you need to apply several times until the crack fills completely. It will leave a brown colored residue that you can not get rid off. This is off the subject but it's a little funny.
I had ordered several items that got lost in shiptment and I contacted UPS and the lady asked what the items were in the order. I gave her all the items and got down to the last one and told her I hated to tell her what the last item was. She said she had heard it all. When I told her it was Capt. Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure she laughed, and laughed, and laughed, and.........., then I laughed.

I used the crack cure on my son's 1981 C-25 windows and it worked like a champ. It did require several applications per the directions but the boat is bone dry. On this boat the crack cure dried milky white to almost clear. The boat's gel coat is a light beige. It is the best $14 for 2oz I ever spent...still have 1/2 of it left. And it has been over two years.
