Cat 22 vs Capri 22

Having had a Cat 22, I think I would opt for that model over the Capri 22. Speed difference is negligible, Capri a little more dingy like but the Cat 22 has more cruising comfort down below. Also Cat 22 more available and recognizable when buying or selling. Construction quality the same.

Capri 22

Hello Sam I have a 2001 Capri 22 standard rig wing keel. I bought it new. The capri is a well balanced boat, with predictable handilng qualities. The cockpit is excellent and the cabin is sufficient for short cruises. The capri out performs all but the most serious one design race boats. She is an excellent sport boat. So if you favor performance over cruise and you are not looking for an all out racer then the capri won't disapoint you. Fair winds EJ

I love the Capri 22!

If I were looking for a trailerable, performance oriented, daysailor, the capri 22 would be my choice. It has a huge cockpit and easy, safe access to the fore deck that suits racing or holding 5 or 6 people for a picnic sail. Plus.... it's beautiful.

Buy the capri

I have had my capri for 7 years. It performs well and the room in the cockpit is great. For a 22 ft boat having a lot of room below is not needed unless you plan to sleep on it a few times a year. We overnight 1 or 2 times a year (family of 4) and make do. Having a boat that sails well is the most important thing. Boats that don't sail well don't get used.
