capri 18 mainsheet controls

i have an 87 capri 18 and am pretty happy with it so far except for one thing. the mainsheet controls (blocks) that are attached to the backstay seem somewhat clumsy. i turned the capcleat upside down so that you pull up to release the sheet and that was a pretty good improvement, however i would much prefer the camcleat be mounted on the transom much like my old com-pac 16. i realize that this might not be feasible with the backstay in the way. i wonder if any other owners have had this concern and have made a change.

May I suggest that you address this under the Catalina owners website at www.catalinaowners.com and place it under the small boats as you will get better responses as those folks will be answer you better as you will encounter more Capri 18 owners. In addition, it was later referred to as the Catalina 18. Also post a photo along with it in it's current set up.
