Catalina capri 15 Sonoma County
Hi,
I haven't posted questions before or knew about this site. I am cleaning up a capri 15, which has set beside my house for the last 15 years! I have placed new sidestays and am ready to hoist the mast. How is the forestay attached? Is it a pin with a hole and a circular ring through the pin hole? or is there another method? The boat has two trapeze lines for each side. How is the trapeze line attached to the sidestays? I have some bungee long cords but they are completely rotted and I need to get new ones, but with those I don't know how they are attached. I need to order new sails, both the jib and main. Can you recommend a source?
All in all the boat looks quite good and I am excited to fix it up!

See if this site can sell you sails for a Capri 15. If not, you can call Catalina Direct or go thru the manufacturer, Catalina, in the Tampa, Florida area 727-577-6681 not sure about that number but you can look them up. Capri was a division of Catalina Yachts.

In the beginning do not worry about the trapeze lines as you need to learn how to sail first as that is something later but most do not use them anyway. Please post a photo of the forestay attachment. I need to see how many holes that forestay chain plate has and then we can go from there.

Contact me via the forum and I would suggest putting your questions on the www.catalinaowners.com which is also a part of this over all forum. I would try first getting sails here and if you look under shop by department call them and talk with David Groshong as I believe he knows the Catalinas. I use to be a Catalina dealer and introduced for years the smaller Catalinas along with the Hunters.
