We have 1990 Catalina 30 MKii and would like to cap the black water tank's access to the macerator. The Macerator is not working and we do not plan to replace it as it is a Great Lakes boat. Any suggestions on how to cap the black water tank's access to the macerator would be helpful.

Did the exact same thing with mine 15 yrs. ago. Poly tank, took out hose fitting into tank and installed a threaded plug similar to a clean out plug.

in my case I had a tank fitting that was cracked long ago and weeping slowly. Also a macerator outlet. Cut it off flush with the tank outer wall, then used a hole saw to remove the uneven surface where the spin-welded fitting was. Result was a 3" diameter nice round hole. Used a Uniseal and piece of PVC pipe with glued on end to close the hole. According to Uniseal Uniseals the resulting connection is leakproof to 65 psi, which I calculated was a minimum of 3 times the static pressure my tank would experience. $8.50 for the Uniseal, $12 for the PVC pipe and fitting. Already had the PVC cement. I figure I both saved $1K minimum boat $, and was able to avoid dramatically reducing my holding tank volume.

Thank you so much. I noticed that there is also a flexible pipe coming from the galley area. What is this for?

I am at work at the moment however there is a T pipe from the macerator with one pipe connected to the black water tank and the other towards the galley. Will need to trace this pipe. Will keep you posted

Sounds like the pump out hose. On my 93 there is a T fitting in the hose from the pump out to the bottom of the holding tank. The T is where the macerator input was connected. The macerator output hose goes to a thru hull.
I removed the macerator and put a PVC plug in the T fitting and in the thru hull valve.

My macerator had rusted screws holding it together and had started to leak. As I'm on a protected bay, I'll never be using it but the next owner can easily put one back in.

On my 88 C30 the macerator was threaded into the T-fitting out of the tank. I unscrewed the macerator and threaded in a standard 1½" PVC cap with pipe sealant. Done.
