I've sailed on a number of CD 25's (OB model, not the inboard 25D which is an entirely different boat) and found them wonderful boats. What they lack in interior headroom they make up for in sailing ability, particularly when the wind is up. Depending on condition and equipment, these boats typically sell for $5-7k and hold their value well.

was a dock neighbor to a Cape Dory 36 for a while. it never went out and rarely saw the owner, but it looked like it could handle weather.

My first sailboat was hull #10 (1973) which we had for 5 years. Nothing ever broke and it always got us home safely. We went from mid-coast Maine to Conn. and just about everywhere in between. The outboard well was a pain because the stern wave would rise up and fill the lazarrette. I had a plug for the outboard hole and would remove the 6 HP when travelling any distance. It sailed pretty well and we learned a lot. I changed the original roller reefing and put in jiffy with the help of a local sailmaker.

I still see them even here in FL and they look very salty.

Do you mean a Pearson 26 by P26 ?

Our slip neighbor has one, the outboard version, and he loves it. Everything I've heard about them is good. Classic lines, beautiful to see under sail.
