Ok here is my situation. I'll be out in N. Truro with the wife and MIL for a week in mid August.

I'm looking to try and do a little sailing as a matter of bolstering the nerves and confidence for bringing my own boat next year. Thus far we are very novice sailors and only on lakes.

I'm seeking some one from the Cape who knows where I can get into a rental for a day or two without breaking the bank.

We've been going for years (MIL for 35yrs straight) and I sit there on the beach year after year wanting to get out there. I have stopped in some places and nobody seems interested in this sort of situation.

And forget about the internet searches... its like a sifting through a freakin garbage pile of shiny advertisements that have yet to yield a single useful lead.

Any Ideas from the folks that are there and on here?

Thanks

Hi Ed, We sail Cape Cod Bay out of Wellfleet pier. Wellfleet is the neighboring town below Truro on route 6. I know people have rented Day Sailors at Wellfleet Pier for hourly rates that were pretty reasonable. There are also sailing lessons available on an O’Day Mariner at Wellfleet Pier. I’m heading to Wellfleet tomorrow for the weekend and I’ll get some more specific rates and contact info and post them here for you.

Wow thanks for the very quick response.
Pricing by the day would be great and instructions are good within reason... again money being the concern.

Thank you again.

wellfleet harbor

sailing in wellfleet harbor is an experience. If I recall it has about an 11 foot tide. You go off sailing then plan to return 6 hours later to see there is no water where you want to go. Good lluck. Terry

Terry is right about the tides in Wellfleet can make sailing around in the harbor difficult depending on the tide. We avoid low tide when planning to sail. You can rent a sailboat at Wellfleet Harbor. Wellfleet Marine Corp. 508 349-2233. They have 14' Cat sailboat & a 19' Rhodes daysailer. Both boats and the rates are shown in the pictures below. I know a guy that gives sailing lessons on an O'Day Mariner 19' but didn't see his boat yesterday. If i see it today it i'll post a picture and phone info

You can also rent sailboats in Provincetown at Flyer's boat rental. They are on the Web. I don't know their rates.
