an old sail cover that was given to me, I hand washed it but am afraid to put it in the dryer. Will putting it in the dryer hurt it? It is green canvas 25-30 oz. Any temp on dryer?

Cotton canvas is quite tolerant of heat but acrylics(sunbrella) will melt at less than 300 f. pull a few threads and apply a flame to them if the burn they may be cotton if they melt they are probably acrylic. If acrylic just throw it over the clothes line and let it air dry.

I would opt to hang it out in the back yard... or in the house someplace. All that tumbling and heat can't be good for it.

Cotton canvas is pretty tough stuff. If when you are through washing it and still don't like it as a sail cover make tote bags from it.
