Do you treat your canvas bimini with anything. Have heard many do. An have read not to. I have full surround with my bimini. What do you recommend?

We use 303 on the glass and have tried several products on the Sunbrella including the Starbright product, all with equal success. We use them to rewaterproof the cloth about once a year.

Where did you find that piece of nonsense? Seriously. It makes NO sense.
Where else but on the internet.

I've used 303 on my dodger for 17 years with reasonable success. It adds some waterproofing but it certainly doesn't restore its original water repellant qualities. And yes, it is vendor recommended.

I am using 303 on all my canvas as we speak and have been doing so for the
last few years after it starting leaking rain through it and the 303 has been doing a good job and did read where 303 is recommended by canvas people.

One further thing I would add is that I don't spray the 303 on the Sunbrella dodger. The Sunbrella almost seems to repel the 303 aerosol (static charge ? ? ?) and sends it floating away. Maybe up to 50% loss. I learned to apply it with a paint brush in spite of what the directions say. The performance is the same.

I too uses 303 on my Sunbrella bimini. However unlike the YouTube videos, for mine water on my bimini do not bead up although it doesn't soak thru the canvas.

Will 303 protect sunbrella from bird droppings? If not, is there anything that will clean and/or protect sunbrella from our flying friends?

I have used the 303 Canvas Treatment and the StarBrite Waterproofer. I think they are equivalent products although Sunbrella does recommend the 303.

One caution: Don't spray either product on the window material. It will cause permanent damage to the surface that will affect the clarity. Carefully shield the window and/or use a brush to apply.

And I am sorry to say that neither will protect from bird droppings. And the birds are really not our "flying friends".

We routinely hose down our canvas and use a soft brush. The worst thing for fabric is dirt. It will continue to grind into the fabric.

C&C 30 Mk I came with a nice Genco bimini/dodger/connector. Some accumulated dirt in the seams and corners - gave it a scrub on the back deck with soap and water, then applied the 303 protectant. This stuff is expensive, and you need to hold the bottle back far enough from the material to let the spray disperse, otherwise you will go through it pretty quickly. Good performance after one season of use, no leaks, but it certainly does not bead water - was expecting a somewhat more repellant coating. Will repeat next year, and also apply to UV shield on the roller-furling genoa in the spring.
