I read somewhere that a good product to slather on canvas to waterproof it [ I'd like to re-treat my dodger] is Thompsons Deck Sealer which can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes. Has anyone tried this? How well does it hold up and does it negatively affect the canvas in anyway? The stuff that I bought at my marine supply did not hold up at all and was very expensive to use. but don't "slather it on". Follow the instructions and use their recommended application spread rate. Also, I *think* (seems to me I've read this before) there are two products recommended depending on the condition of the Sunbrella canvas. I used laundry detergent and water. Two problems: it didn't do any good, and much of the stitching came unraveled. What went wrong? Maybe these things are older than I imagined.

Forty years ago on old-fashioned cotton canvas, this might ahve been a good thing. But Sunbrella is not made of cotton, it is a synthetica material, so use the 303 as reccomended.
