Have a lot of water coming through the compression post and leaking out of all points of entry. I have a hunter 280...seems like theres no weep holes in mast or step whatsoever.. How have others solved this...seems like a factory flaw. Drilling above the plate, as mentioned in some forums, seems like its not low enough or can never be low enough in order to solve this issue.

You're getting water inside your boat? That doesn't sound like a lack of weep holes, although they would help.

I don't know the design of your mast step to be much help, but if it's water inside the boat, sounds more like a mast step sealing issue more than missing weep holes.

Does the mast wiring go through the deck inside the mast step? If so, you should check the sealant around the tube through which the wires go (and make sure you have a drip loop in the wires).
