recently purchased a venture sailboat. i was told it was a 222 but upon measuring the mast and later the boat its 24 ft long and the mast is 28 ft long. it looks just like a 222 however and nothing like a 24 or 25.......but its 24 ft long with a mast 4 ft longer then a 222. does anyone have any thoughts as to what i actually have here?

allow me to add the lola sat abandoned for roughly 30 years in a marina before i took posession. she was totally gutted because of rotten wood. i have since refit her similar to an original 222 with a few personal changes. other then the number 24 in the interior in drill holes there is nothing in the form of i.d. and some il. boat numbers from 1989 on the bow

i have a bill of sale from the marina stating the boats past and their right to sell her to get her off the property

upon review i now realize these are terrrible photos. my appologies. as im refitting the interior i have used almost no wood at all. only the butcher block counters really. everything else is fiberglass or that composite material they make decks out of these days. marine plywood is just crazy expensive but i found i could get truckbed toppers and campershells that were fiberglass and were at least 3/8 thick or better for free so thats what i ve used. its strong and shouldn't rot so im kind of proud of that hack to be honest. its saved me several hundred dollars in refit costs. everything could use one more coat of glass but thats got to wait until next winter. im racing to get the lola mae sea worthy so i can drag her down to fairhope, al. i have a new grandson to meet and i intend to stay on lola and teach myself, the wife and youngest son some sailing basics when we're not with the rest of the family. i have a little 20 hp mercury to save my rookie self should i need it along the way. set up a small cooler area under the booth seat frozen food(dry ice). ive got a small inverter generator with a couple of marine batteries until i can go solar and both the gen and the outboard run on gas or propane. for now a good chart on the laptop, a fishfinder and a garmin for nav. non of its pretty or color matches(paint and matching upholstery is next winter). the keel looks like hell with 3 cracks with the top one closest to the hinge bleeding rust colored stains. its got one more season in it and it will get repaired in the winter as well. i know this well beyond "which venture 2? is mine" but i just wanted to bounce all of this off of some experience and see what yall thought. i dont know if you can see where im adding a window to the front of the cabin or not.

Def not a v22-2. Those have weird “scar boards” on either side of the forward cabin wall.
