Vision 32 with Yanmar 27 HP engine, PSS dripless coupling, 2 bladed prop. Won't go in reverse. Transmission and linkage has been checked - all ok. Shaft turns in both directions; boat goes forward, but only after a short delay. Will not move backward at all. Shaft and prop were removed earlier this year to replace cutlass bearing. Has not really worked right since then. I think that maybe there is a key-way key that was not put back in place. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Check The Linkage Uncoupled?
Have you checked the trans with the cable disconnected to see if there is a problem with that? If it isn't that, I doubt it could be a keyway problem since it wuould logically affect it in forward too. Easy test is to see if the trans flange goes into reverse rotation. If not that stuff, looks like time to call in a good marine mechanic. Good luck. BTW, its not unusual to have a little delay in trans engagement. Rick D.
