a buddy and i recently took on a free sailboat restoration project and it looks like the previous owner started to rebuild the engine but passed away before he had the chance to finish and we found a yanmar 2gm20 we were curious if we could direct swap it.
can you swap a yanmar 2gmf 13hp for a yanmar 2gm20?

The book I have says that the transmission output flange to the rear motor mount distance is about 1" longer on the 2GM20.. The mounting feet are the same width and fore/aft distances. If you have room to push the shaft aft about an inch, it will be fine. Otherwise the mounts would have to be moved forward an inch or thereabouts.
