Can someone help me / Essex Yacht Club

I would like to become a member of the Essex Yacht Club in Essex, CT. I assume you have to be sponsored by a current member to be considered. I am a professional person in the Criminal Justice field. Is anyone out there that can give me some information about the Club?ThanksEd

Hey Ed,

Check into it before hand. I don't know the club specifically, but many in my area would let you slide. The person I contacted for the one I just joined just wanted a resume with my experiences thus far on it if I didn't have a sponsor.If it turns out they are too exclusive to have ya, then screw em!Heh,Josh

Not a big deal

Sponsorship is really not a big deal. Usually, a Yacht Club will have an individual in charge of membership. Find out who that person is and contact him. If he doesn't directly sponsor you, chances are, he will put you into contact with someone who will. The Buffalo Yacht Club requires sponsorship from two standing members- I knew one person and met only once(lunch) with my other "sponsor" before being admitted. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Yacht Clubs are almost always looking for another dues paying member.
