Can I use a 15 hp outboard on the 26M?

I am looking at buying the 26M. I just bought a 15hp Suzuki outboard six months ago and would like to use it for the 26M, to save some money upfront. I can upgrade later. Has anyone had any experience with an engine of this size with this boat? What top speed have you reached? Any negatives? Anything to watch out for?

Good points from YY. It would be nice to see a late model Mac focused on sil rather than power. I see a number of "M"'s and they don't even carry the boom.I think the only possible consequence of the 15 hp is that the water ballast may not fully evacuate the tank at the speeds that you will be achieving. Then again, it may work ok. It only means that it's a touch harder to place it back onthe trailer.Happy sailing
