Can a Garmin Nuvi display charts??

Doubt very much that Garmin would facilitate or allow marine charts to be reproduced on those units.
I looked for a GPS that I could use in the car and on the water. The one I bought was a Magellan corssover. I think it's called a crossover. Anyway, the marine charts cost more than navionics marine charts for my humminbird plotter. Also it completely sucks as a car GPS. I didn't buy the road map so all I got was the map that comes with it.
There isn't going to be any marine charts for the garmin unless someone does a custom hack job.

Moonsailor, I think you would be pleased with the Garmin 478, if you want something to use in your car and on the boat.
I have had one for two years, and have been very happy with its performance and very fine support from Garmin. Had a problem with a DC power adaptor (out of warranty) and they still replaced it - no charge.

Seems pretty much as I expected. I bought the Nuvi 750 on ebay for the car and was thinking maybe some dual use. I did notice one great advantage to a auto GPS. The Nuvi will give long/lat and show roads nearby . Motoring up the Tenn-Tom it was hard to relate water position to things on land. Theoretically I can anchor and go to someplace on shore. The Nuvi has a searchable database of things on shore and the location of the nearest roads. Even on the coast I've been anchored and wondered what was nearby. So when we are cruising we can anchor and row ashore then walk to the nearest ice or beer.
