Hello David,
I left that part out - I am at 2,200 as the normal cruising RPM making just over 4.0 kts through the water and at 2,800 I am at 4.5 kts. Since I just installed the engine this season I wanted to go easy at first before putting it to real use. I started off cruising at 1,700 and worked up over a few weeks until I was confident enough to run it at 2,800 and eventually test at full throttle. I was easily able to get it up to the full 3,600 rpms and hold it there for a distance with no smoke at about 5.0 kts. The stern wasn't digging into the water too much either. I backed my regular cruising rpm down to 2,200 because I got the feeling that I was driving around in second gear. That's why I want to look into steeper pitches. The problem is that I have a 12" prop and the reduction gear I am using (2.62) is really meant for a 16" prop. I cant change the prop diameter so I have to test out a different pitches until I find one I like. I just hope Campbell can make more than one adjustment to the blades without fatiguing the metal too much if I am wrong.
