Cam Cleat Adjustment?

On my Capri 22 the main sheet runs through a fiddle block with a cam cleat. Recently, the cleat is not holding well, the two cams are not rotating inward when I release the sheet. Is it possible to adjust the cams (screws on the bottom?) to tighten the grip? Or do I need a new fiddle block set up?

Try adjusting the screws, if that doesn't work, the cam cleats can be replaced for much less money than a new fiddle.

I'd try a dry lubricant. Outside of that, maybe the springs have weakened.

Were you using the boat in saltwater?
Salt crystals can build up in the cam cleat. Give the unit a good dousing of fresh water. You can even use a few drops of dawn dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and exercise the cam cleats. If you feel the spring is weak you may need to rebuild the cleat if possible. Some cam cleats are not rebuild-able. In such cases you will need to buy and replace the cam cleat.

Amazing to have so many responses in such a short amount of time. Thanks all. There is plenty of information here for me to explore cleaning (yes, I sail in saltwater), adjusting, and rebuilding before considering replacing. Much appreciated.
