Calling all Atomic 4 owners!

I have recently bought a 1979 C30 and love it, except for one small problem. The Atomic 4 engine is being very temperamental.
It starts up beautifully, purrs for about an hour or so, then just cuts out. It will not turn over till it cools down, about half an hour. This is okay if I'm out in the lake, however, it has now happened twice while we were in the harbour about to dock! :cry: A hairy situation, luckily no boats were injured! We did think in was the air intake (which was clogged), but it happened again after it was cleaned out.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions?

Replace the coil, it's overheating. If you have electronic ignition you'll need a coil with 3 - 4 ohm internal resistance.

Absolutely correct. Sounds counter intuitive...engine stops after it's been running, HAS to be a fuel problem. But 9 times out of 10 it's usually electrical.

Moyer's website is a great spot. Questions like this are answered almost immediately, sometimes by Moyer himself. He also has 2 great booklets. One deals with troubleshooting every system on the engine and the other is a combination of various past articles and suggestions for the Atomic 4.

Don't leave port without them!
