I am in the process of a job relocation from Portland, OR to Modesto, CA. At first, we thought we would need to sell our Hunter 35.5, but after a visit to the surrounding area, it looks like we could temporarily moor in the Stockton area. We would live on the boat until we found a new place to live. I am working on getting a boat hauler arranged. We know who to use to derig in Portland, but would like some recommendations for yards that can rerig the boat near Stockton or surrounding area.

Have you considered having a delivery skipper move the boat down the coast?
By the time you pay for taking the boat apart and putting it back together along with the $3-4/mile charge & lay time for the driver you may be able to save money.
We had a boat moved from Stockton, MO. to Stockton, CA. (Ladd's Marina). They charged about $1500 to put the boat back together (self stayed rig, so not much for them to do).
Stockton Sailing Club may have a spot to berth the boat for a live aboard. You can also head farther west for some other options.

One of this board's respondents had his boat trucked from Texas to the Bay Area. He had the boat re-rigged at KKMI, a very good boatyard in Richmond, CA. It's only a long day trip or two days at the most to get upriver to Stockton from here. Consider the Bay Area boatyards for your work and you'll have a great time sailing to Stockton. The few boatyards I'm aware of in the Delta primarily work on boats much smaller than yours, i.e., 25-30 footers, and may not have the abilities (personnel and equipment) that would be required for your boat.
I have been sailing the Delta for 28 years and have been at just about every yard around at one time or another. The one I would suggest is Walton's Marine in Rio Vista, Ca. They have done four boats for me and have been just great and they have the best prices in the Delta. If you need Delta info just e-m me, and If I can assist you in any way the same. I agree with you about Walton's. They had the other yard over on the San Joaquin (Bruno's Island) that had a lot more capability. I think his best bet is still Ladd's. There is good freeway access to the marina and they have a crane that lifted my 800 lb mast on my boat.
Bob Walton & his son-in-law John do good work at reasonable prices. They quoted me $800 for a bottom job on my HV'36 (one coat of paint plus a second coat around the water line). This includes the disposal fees, prep and cleanup.
I doubt that you will find these prices in the bay.

We had a successful move of our boat, Five O'Clock Somewhere (Legend 35.5), from Portland to Stockton on January 6th. Boat is resting at Riverpoint Marina. We will get settled and familiar with the area before we venture out. Boat has CNG and I saw some posts once on getting CNG in the Delta. If someone could let me know who and where I can get tanks filled, please post.

Rio Vista has CNG. They get it from Svendson's here in the Bay Area. Probably about $20 to swap tanks out. We have two tanks onboard for that day when the first one empties out when you're cooking dinner or making morning coffee (ask em how i know!)
