Just bought a completely stripped (and I mean stripped)Cal 28. At least I think thats what it is.. It has the same layout as a cal-29 yet its only 27' plus. I have not been able to find ANY info online for cal-28's. I found one for sale but no pics were available. I would eventually like to find some manuals for it, so I know what the interior is supposed to look like. Plus I will need all deck hardware, hatches, mast, boom, and sail information. Any help would be appreciated. I originally bought the boat because I wanted the trailer it was on, but the wife and I fell in love with the Cal even in its present condition and would love to restore it. My email is firstknight1970@yahoo.com or I will check back here for replies. Thank you!

cal 38

Are you sure you have a cal 28? There were two 28's built. The first was in the 1960-1970+ era. This model had a flat top, the second was built in the late 80's and looked different than all other cal's. It sounds like you have a Cal 2-27 which looks a lot like the Cal 2-29 If you search on the web for the Cal 227 you will find some pictures. I don't have any pictures to send but I do own a 227 and would be able to scan some if they would help.

title

Well the title is being sent to me shortly as it had to be filed for lost title, but the owner called the vessel a cal-28. It is also 27' plus (I THINK 27'7'' but I dont remember now) and I have yet to see them round down when naming them. It is a 1968 model and does have a flush deck (flat top). The interior is exactly as I have seen on the net for a Cal-29 but very unlike what I have seen on the net for the interior of a cal-27... I am sure the pictures would at least rule out what it is not if nothing else..haha.. my email is kranch@txucom.net Thanks!

Help for Cal 28 owner

I was curious about your boat and found this website, which you may or may not already have found. It chronicles a restoration project easily as extensive as what you have in store - its pretty exciting to see the progress they've made and the owner might be a big help to you if he's at all responsive to email inquiries. Good luck! We do have a manual for the Cal 2-29 if you think a copy of that would be useful -the 28 it does look alot like ours on the inside. You'll love the quarterberths!

hi sue

Hi Sue, What is the website that you found? I was wondering if you know your mast length? If they are very similiar..... maybe I can go by that.

email address

I couldnt find that fellows email address on the website BUT he had a pic that although unreadable, had a LOT of the specs I need. IF I was able to decipher the mast length correctly, it appeared to be 33'. If so I am delighted, as I have a 33' approx mast that came off a pearson 26. I had assumed it would be too short. I would still have to check spreader width.
