Has anyone purchased halyards from Cajun Ropes? I am wondering why they are so much cheaper than Stayset X and other similar brands. Are they any good?

Application: Catalina 30, Tall rig, Bow Sprit, Wing Keel...No racing, just cruising. Length 3/8" halyard at 120 feet (adding a few extra feet so that I can change them between jib and main halyard since I have furling and my halyards wear differently because of this).

I think the cajun spices keep the critters from crawling aboard via the ropes:D

Yes they are very good and very, very reasonable. I use their Nova Gold double braided anchor rode and honestly think it is the best anchor rode money can buy. too bad more folks don't know about it.. I've used the braits and hated them. This stuff is gorgeous! I've also used XLE and Polyspec (spectra core). Nice stuff at one hell of a price!!

They use NovaBraid which is a Yarmouth, Nova Scotia manufacturer of line similar to a Samson, NER or Yale. great guy to deal with..

I bought new halards from them three years ago, they have no issues low stretch and strong splices. I would not think of going anywhere else for my needs in the future.

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious because it is a big price difference. Probably one of those things where they are small so the prices are very competitive but when they get big the prices will go up some. That may be my next purchase then!

I have totally rigged two boats with Cajun. The stuff performs flawlessly. I can also tell you that working with Gary is REAL easy. I have had custom requests for both boats and he accomodated my in a very fast, professional and VERY cordial way. I am proud to have a chance to write in support of Gary and Cajun Ropes.

This sailor says go for it.

Hello Maine Sail,

I am getting ready to purchase the NovaGold anchor rode.. Looks like great stuff. They speced my boat to 1/2 inch (I have a Pearson 36-2 16,000+/-). However my current set up is 5/8 3 strand.... going smaller might mentally mess me up! I am adding to this 50 feet of 3/8 G4 chain.

A couple of questions...
What size rode are you using??
How is working with the double braded verses the 3 strand that has been my experience?

Thanks!
