Cabo

I was there a couple of months ago and while I didn't look to charter anything, I didn't see much to be chartered. I've heard the marina in Cabo is very, very expensive. There were less than 24 sailboats in a huge marina when I was there last. Also currents are treacherous in the area. Have you considered La Paz? More expensive to get to, but cheaper once you're there. I understand there's a growing ex-pat community at the marina there. Good luck, let us know what you find.

La Paz

Glenn, I've not been to La Paz, but the previous answer to your question sounds right from what I've heard. I was in La Paz last year and didn't look like the place for my kind of sailing. (I have a Hunter 26) The marinas are expensive. The bay is too shallow for my h26. The channel out is long and narrow. You can sail out to the islands and anchor, but that's a long trip both in distance and time. It's okay for either big boat sailing or a beach cat. David King "Molly"

cabo

Andy; There's very little sailing in or around Cabo. The marina is very expensive and anchoring is difficult. I know, I was anchored there for 27 days in 2000 with engine trouble. There are moorings, which may be reasonable. Most people anchor close in and stay for only a few days. It's very noisy, crowded, expensive. La Paz is better. It'll take a few days to get there from Cabo, but once there it's a great staging point for the outer islands.
