Hello Fellow Sailors, I have a new problem to share and would like some feed back if any Hunter owners have had this similar problem. We have a 87 Hunter 31 with a wheel pedestal. The cable for forward and reverse is bent at the control lever. You say straighten it out. Did that. Didn't work. Made it worse for some reason. Tried some oil. Didn't work either. So I have concluded that I should replace the cable. Does anyone know if this is a Merriman part item? Or, a Yanmar item? Also would like to know if anyone has had a problem with the housing that holds the cable secure break in the bolt hole? I think I have that problem solved with some new steel and epoxy glue. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance for any suggestions. This is by far the best forum for sailors I have come across. Keep up the great work guys and gals. Thanks, Robert Hughes

change the cable

it is not a hunter or yanmar part but most likely a morse product. i broke mine on my 84 two years ago and the next day my throttle cable broke! change them both. when you take off the cable it will have the size/model printed on it. good luck mike

WM carries Teleflex brand control cables...

that will fit most any Hunter model. All they need is the cable length. Take the old one with you to make sure you have the right match. Should be easy to replace. Terry
