Cable connection

At the risk of getting blasted for turning a perfectly good sailboat into a floating condo, ;) has anyone ever added a cable tv connection to the stern of their boat? Occasionally when staying over on the boat at the marina we would like to make use of the cable tv supplied at our slip. We have a connection inside the boat that we can run the connecting cable, but running a cable from the dock to the inside of the boat is not really convenient. We would like to just be able to connect the line at the stern just like the shore power. We have a 2000 340H.

Cable TV

I see nothing wrong with having some luxuries like TV on a boat.I have Sat Tv and I bought a Marinco Cable TV/Phone Jack and (gasp) drilled a hole in the upper transom and mounted it.I ran the cable through the chase and came out near the power panels. It isnt that hard and it is better than draping a cable through the companionway.Shop around for the best deal on the marinco, though, the stainless steel jacks get pricey.Good Luck.

Keep it simple

KKB: I drilled a hole inside the transom shower box and installed an ss cable nipple/connector, which comes with locking nut. Make sure that you put a loop in the cable just in case, so the water will drip down before it gets to the connector. On my 410 the shower box is under the helmsman seat so it protected. I use the connection for my Direct TV setup at dockside or when there is cable TV available. I always disconnect the cable when the boat is unattended. Matías

The previous owner of our boat mounted the ...

CATV connector on the instrument panel of our P42 and used the existing panel wire route. It actually works out pretty well. IMHO it's better than drilling a new hole in the hull. Terry

We went the $$$ Way

We installed the stainless steel phone/cable inlet on the rear next to our power connections on our Vision 36, then ran the cable. Expensive, but looks great and no leak worries. Take care Brad
