I have seen a connector that allows you to easily disconnect cables from the mast that pass through the deck. However, I don't know what it is called or where I can buy one. Anyone able to help me on this?
Look in any marine supply catalog, on-line or hard copy...
under Electrical, then under (probably) Connectors, and you should find a variety, one of which should meet your needs. The link below is one example; try others for comparison. -Paul
use a Burndy connector or an MS (Military Style) or Jones style connector. These connectors have a male and female housing with a twist lock style case.If that is what you are looking for, look in Newark Electronics, Digikey Electronics, or Mouser Electronics and use the search engine for the styles I listed above. My mast head unit uses a Burndy MS style connector.I have included a link for a MS connector style from Amphenol you can look at.
...that has exit wires at the base of the mast, connects to others that are inside the box from the cabintop and all connect there inside the externally-mounted box. Great for the radar, instrunemts and lights. About $60 thru Defender.
Actually, the part I am looking for is a rectangular, stainless steel, waterproof box that is mounted on the deck just forward of the mast. I have seen it on two boats (both Hunters) but cannot locate the part.
I have had two Hunters and both had what looks like a stainlessbox but really is just a cover that is used to cover the hole that allthe cables from the mast pass through into the head liner and connectedto the wireing inside the boat that is connected for mast lights radar and other cables going up the mast. Can you see the box in photo in front of where themast would be.Nick
