Cabinet button locks

One of my cabinet button locks is jammed and stuck in the closed position. I have no way to get inside the cabinet to release it. I do not want to pry it open and damage the cabinet door. Did someone had a similar experience and how did you get it open? I was thinking of drilling and tapping into the button part and try to pull the knob out with a screw, which means the whole lock assembly will have to be replaced or at least the button part, if this item can be purchased seperately. Is there a better way or an other alternative?

The drawer above

If it's not the top drawer, you can remove the drawer above and unscrew the assembly from inside. the assembly is pretty simple to dismantle, I hope your dealer can get you parts if you need them. Good luck.

Stuck Button

I had one stick on me once, there was still a little movement on the button. I used a little WD40 and kept tapping inwards on the button and it then let go. Mine was the top drawer so could not get at it that way. Tony

I've been there

I know the situation well. The "button" portion of the lock should unscrew, leaving a threaded stud. It's usually a problem with the lock not pushing IN far enough to release. Once the stud is exposed, you should be able to release it. I've had this problem with several of mine. I removed the entire assembly, lubricated with WD40, and reinstalled. Then they work for a while. They don't seem to be a very high quality component.

Drawer and locker buttons

We had one button that got stuck on a drawer/bin where we keep our dirty laundry. I found that a piece of clothing was getting stuck on it. Now we keep the laundry "confined" in a bag. Jiggling the button gently several times unstuck it. We've had no difficulty with the other buttons on drawers and lockers. I like this kind much better than what we had on an earlier boat (different manufacturer) where we got our fingers stuck in the button holes.
