i am about to purchase a hunter 31. the cabin windows have what look to be four metal pegs each with plastic caps. i have an idea they may be intended for some sort of curtain arrangement (this particular boat has no curtains) but we cannot tell for certain. what are they and how are they used?

Doug; Yes, those pegs are for the curtains that came with the H31. The two top ones are for hanging the curtain on and the two bottom one's are for slipping an elastic type cord over, which is attached to the bottom of the curtains, to hold the curtains in place when they are down. The curtains were sewn in an accordian fashion and when up, an elastic type cord held them on the top pegs. Rudimentary but effective. We have had our 1984 H31 since new and the only thing that needed replacing is the elastizied cord. Regards, Mac Lindsay

Port Light Pegs

Mac is right, I have a 1986 H-31 and that's what I have. Of course I've changed the port lights and the curtains, well the wife changed the curtains. Ours didn't have the pleeted curtains, just material rolled up on a stick. Regards Craig

Doug; Click on the boats model by model, go to H31 and check the view of the galley and the dinette for an idea of what they look like. Or wander the docks and find a H31 with an owner aboard and ask for a tour. We sailors love to gab and show our boats. Regards, Mac.
