Hey ya'll, I'm wanting to out an end to all moisture inside my cabin. Right now it's not a problem and simply don't want it to become one and am asking ya'll for what works for you, or what you have tried and found didn't work. Thanks in advance for any input.

Dehumidifier Option Works

While you indicate it's for a 22-foot boat, you might consider this a bit much but it does do the job quite well. You want to have a low %RH and moving air. A Maytag 45 pint Dehumidifier model M7DH45B2A, http://www.maytagair.com/units/m7dh45b2a.asp It will dehumidify down to 35%RH which is quite good. You want to be low in the RH but it is also a function of temperature. <40%RH would probably be good enough but if you've been battling mold or mildew being lower it to err on the side of the angels. There is a removeable water bucket which I removed and connected a hose to the water outlet and ran the hose into a sink drain. The unit has a programmable humidistat but it can reset itself (I think the default setting is 60%RH) after a power outage. Power consumption is listed at 560 watts when it's running with the compressor but the compressor doesn't run all the time. When it isn't just the fan runs which draws far less power. Home Depot sells Maytag: Internet/Catalog # 259928, Store SKU# 242660, Price: $189.00/ea http://www.homedepot.com/prel80HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&MID=9876&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes&CNTKEY=misc%2fsearchResults.jsp If you don't mind a poor guarentee the same model is available at Wal-Mart under, I believe, Fedders, which is the prime manufacturer of the Matag (i.e., they just put the Maytag name on it). I know it's only a 22-ft boat but if you really want to combat mold and mildew this is a sure-fire way to go. The inside of the boat will smell fresh and clean.
