Cabin top traveller hardware

My 1982 standard rig has cabin top traveller. The car has no controls, and one of the spring-loaded moveable stops is frozen in the locked down position,in a close hauled configuration. I don't recognize the name of the hardware manufacturer, but it says 'Australia' on it. Do I have to remove the traveller track to get the moveable stop off? Do I do this by unbolting from the cabin roof form below? I assume that I should replace the car with one with ball bearings, and perhaps controls. The track is bent to shape, and seems fine. Any suggestions for hardware or precedure? I am a cruiser not a racer, but I want the boat to sail well, of course. I am little worried about re-bedding the traveller, as the boat is very dry now. Thanks for any advice. Roger

Shouldn't have to remove

I don't think you should have to remove the track. Assuming you unfreeze the stop, it should slide off the end of the track after you remove the rubber end caps (they're held on by a friction-fit pin). In trying to unfreeze the stop, you might want to try a little heat while gently tapping it with a mallet. I wouldn't spend any money on upgrading the car. Garhauer sells a complete replacement kit converting to a more efficient flat track. By the time you buy a new car, turning blocks, etc. you might as well spend a couple of hundred $ more for the complete set-up.
