Comfortably Numb

In 2001 I asked the question if anyone had mounted a traveler on the pads where the halyard clutches are mounted. The clutches are mounted on the starboard and there is a pad on the port side for additional clutches etc.. The one response I received seemed to be concerned that this configuration would not help make the boat any faster. I really was not concerned with that, but merely wanted to get the mainsheet out of the cockpit. By having it mounted higher it would also help in releasing the main sheet. I will ask Hunter if that would be structurally sufficient on those pads to take the loads imposed by the main. I would appreciate anyone elses input on this topic.

My H26 Traveler Location

A previous owner of my H26 installed a traveler in the "threshold" of the companionway. It's pretty much out of the way in the cockpit (also isn't a head banger) but very accessable. You might also want to confirm that the mainsheet tackle will cleat and release the mainsheet properly (and quickly)at that higher angle.BrianW
