Cabin top moisture and dull tones

My '93 Legend 37.5, recently surveyed for a pending sale, had dull tones from the sounding mallet and read wet on the moisture meter. The area in question is the starboard side of the mast from the opening hatch to forward about 5 feet. I'm doing research online on how to fix, but I'm asking for help on trying to find the source of the water intrusion and any ideas on repairs. Thanks

I would look at the mast step first and any hardware that may need rebedding.
It could be coming in around the edges of the hatch, but that seems less likely. You also have two small forward hatches? Check the bedding around their framing.
