Cabin table - 88 MacGregor 26

I'm trying to come up with a way to stow my cabin table when not in use. I was thinking about a double hinge, like what you see on some airline seat arm tray tables. This would allow the table to fold over to the left then up and aft, stowing against the head wall. (havent found any yet)

Also, what keeps the support leg in place when using the table? I guess the PO lost the origional since I now have a sawed off hanger rod to use. lol

26Macsailer, I have read of 3 places on a 26D: flat against the head bulkhead, flat against the daggerboard housing, and under the mattress for the aft berth. If you search, you can find some pics of some of these. -Paul

I imagine your D is in many ways like my S. The original "leg" is a piece of aluminum tubing that fits in a hole under the table and has a rubber stopper on the end. The table is a hatch cover that covers a hatch in the "queen size" bed area. Hard to get out and even harder to put back. Mine had 2 holes drilled in the sink area where 2 bolts slid loosely into. The table literally wobbled about. In my opinion anything would be an improvement including just a pair of legs to hold a plate. At first I steadied the factory table by inverting the bolts and locking them in place with nuts top and bottom, then using wing nuts to firmly hold the table in place. But I still had to deal with the awful storage after use. Your idea sounds good. Sum has posted his idea of a moveable table that suits his and Ruth's liking. He's a veritable reservoir of ideas. I wanted a table that would store itself and serve more than one use.
