Cabin Lights

I am remodeling the cabin in my 26'. I would like to replace the reading lights threwout, but the replacements that i have found are extremely expensive for what they are. Can I buy lights at Lowes and change the bulbs to DC voltage?

Yes. I bought 2 of my cabin lights at Lowes and simply wired them to the 12v system and used 12V bulbs in them. They are the same socket. Also try RV outlets. They tend to have similar lamps but cheaper than marine.

Bass Pro has/or had LED lights in white or a red/white combo that we purchased for our boat, have not installded them yet. They seem to be plenty bright with very little amperage draw.

I think I paid about $12.95 each.
I even got two longer ones to make soft spreader lights for it.

Whatever you do... Go for the LED's as a fixture or a retro for less power consumption. Sensi-bulb makes a good product... and you can get an adapter to get you to your original base.

LED's are expensive... however your batteries will thank you.
