Cabin light wiring problem

The port side cabin light over the mid-cabin galley on my C27 (dinette) is out. The three starboard light fixtures work. Testing indicates the blue (hot) wire to be the problem. The wiring appears imbedded in the cabin liner. DAMN!!!!!! How do I fix this problem? Where does the problem wire connect to the rest of the harness? Is it possible to fish another wire through? I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks....Joe

The One Goofy thing...

You discovered one of the goofy things on early Catalina boats. You are right, it’s imbedded in the deck. I dread the day on my C-30 I have this kind of problem.. 3M has a nice wire chase that can be surface mounted, that’s what I’d do anyway.

Cabin light problems

I've had the same problem twice. What I did was use a volt-meter and found that I could bypass the bad section of wire in the deck by connecting the power in front of it and it back feeds the light. You ohm out your wiring and identify the bad spot. Then what I did was jump from one good light to another and this made all my lights work. The last time ,my lights would go dim or out. I found that I had a short in my starboard v-berth light,this was being feed from my chart table light.I disconnected this and ran a wire from my quarter berth light to my chart table light and all my lights work except the one in the v-berth.

we also need help...help!

we are in the process of restoring our 30' catalina - and the job of re-wiring would be a lot easier if we had a blueprint/diagram of the wiring system. any idea where we can obtain this?Jane
