I was trying to replace the old forward cabin lights on my Catalina 27 and accidentally pulled the blue wire out when I was stripping the old wires. I pulled it out about 5 inches from in the fiberglass. Is there any easy way to track the wire? My idea is to use the Dremel to gently cut away at the layers of fiberglass and hopefully find the end of the wire I stupidly removed. I can then use the base of the new lights to cover up the fiberglass "search and rescue". Thank you in advance for assistance.

C27 wiring harness....

My understanding is the wiring harness for the interior lights was simply sandwiched (imbedded) between the liner and the glass, making it virtually impossible to remove. On my '77 C27 this is true. Rather than destroying the liner, I would leave it and install a conduit system externally, hidden by some trim boards.

After extensive rewiring on my 77, 27' catalina, my advise is to run a seperate line hidden behind any trim you can find. The blue conductor is layered in the cabin top with no access. I cut and spliced white conductors where I could find a splice point and used cable markers (radio shack, source) to identify individual runs. KEEP A SCHMATIC FOR ALL CHANGES to avoid confusion in the future for you or a future buyer.
