cabin leaks..

Hi all,

Recently, I have noticed two very small leaks in the cabin when it is raining.

If you are sitting on either of the cabin bunks, the leak seeems near the corner of where the vertical side of the cabin top meets the horizontal walkways on the side of the boat.

The dripping is seen inside, right at that internal corner. There is a strip of wood trim along there.

Has anyone else had this?

I have noticed on the outside of the boat that there is a row of evenly spaced screws along that same edge.

Usual place is where the six screws on each side hold teh wood trim in place beneath teh large windows. These screws are attached from teh outside so end up leaking at some time or other. The cure is to remove the screws on at a time and re-attach with a nice blob of sealant. This may have to be done periodacally. The other cure is to remove the screws, fill with epoxy filler then attach the wood trim from teh inside with sikaflex or similar.

, we had a similar leak and applied the cure that Steve suggested -
for the second time BTW. The leak continued and we eventually spotted
the culprit: the seam on the window gasket was allowing a tiny trickle
of water to run down onto the top of the wood trim. The leak appeared
to be coming from the screws. Our solution was to replace the windows

hope your leak is just from the screws. Much easier to fix.

Well, I've got that leak also. It's a very small one comming in at the split in the original rubber window gasket.
