Its the cabin heat question again. Specifically as related to moisture. I looked at a bunch of archive postings also. A friend replaced his vented propane heater w/an Espar unit because of too much moisture. What is the track record out there for being able to warm & dry out the cabin with a vented propane heater? Espar (Toyotami) are nice but $$ even if installing some or all myself. Use will be coastal ME in summer, and season extension a little bit, May & Sept mostly. I am buying an 85 Pearson 34.

Any unit that vents outside the cabin should reduce the moisture content or humidity. However any heater will creat a temperature differential that will allow condensation to form on the inside of the hull. Air circulation and insulation are the key to a dry boat. I use a kerosene force 10 well into the fall/early winter on LI Sound and have no prblems with it. Perhaps the espar seems drier because it's moving air around as well as heating it. You can get the same effect with a couple of hella or similar cabin fans, regardless of the heat source, as long as said heat source vents outside the cabin.
