Cabin entrance cover leaks

My cabin entrance cover leaks during heavy rain. It did once before but I traced it to the front of the cover and drilled 2 holes which cured the problem. It seems water would build up and leak into the cabin.
I think the water is getting in through the gap between the slide portion and the cover.
Any thought or suggestions? I’ll try to upload a photo. This is the only photo I have but you can see the cover and hatch slide is in it. I’ll try to get a better pic later today when I check on her. There are some strong winds today in Jersey.

Check for dirt in those holes you drilled. Cars have similar issues when drain holes/tubes get clogged with dirt

It's probably just about time in the boat's life to take it off and check out what's underneath. You can take it and the hatch home over the winter and possibly get the hatch varnished.
A good winter maintenance job, no? I'm sure it would go quite a way to filling your black box.

Had to pull the hood that my companion way glass slides under. We were getting a couples leaks inside. Dirt was redirecting rain water the wrong direction. I’d start there as capta suggested.
