Cabin Deck Screws?

Hello,
I am a new owner of a 1983 22' O'Day. I was cleaning things out and getting it ready for the winter when I noticed 8 screws in the deck of the cabin, one of which was loose.
Can anyone tell me what these screws attach to or support as I do not see any way to access the area in the bilge that they might attach to?

Hey John,
I meant to congratulate you on the purchase of your boat. You're going to enjoy sailing it I'm sure. The 1983 O'Day 22 was probably one of the last ones built before O'Day came out with the O'Day 222 in 1984. Does your boat have a keel/centerboard?

Thanks, and yes it has the drop down centerboard. Here are the pictures of the deck screws, don't mind the dirt our nice New England weather turned sour, lots of rain...
I am so looking forward to next spring when I can put her in the water!

Now I'm wondering if the screws are for a table, as my O'Day doesn't have one, but from the owners manual believe it can be equipped with one...

No, that's the thing, No access from either the storage compartment or the bilge area and nothing on the hull. The screws are on the starboard side and I couldn't find any kind of fitting on the hull unless it is covered by the bottom paint... If you know, how would a table attach to the deck on this model boat?

I've seen this before on the side deck of an O'Day 25 that belonged to a friend of mine. I'm not sure if he told me that he installed the screws in the deck because it was lifting, or because there was something mounted in that area and rather than fill the holes with epoxy, he just put screws in the holes. Myself, whenever I remove hardware I fill the holes with epoxy.
If for instance there is some bad core under those screws, you should dig out the rot and reconstruct it with new core with fiberglas epoxy and filler. I really don't think those screws are holding anything but I could be wrong about that.

Just a quess, but it looks like a screew patern for a circular table base. It would have looked like an upside down funnel that a 3" + or - tube that would have slid into to support the table. The bottom side of the table top would have had a matching funnel if you would.
