Just opened the hatch on my 240 after 2 weeks of torrential downpour here in Indy and found the interior soaked. I have a companionway cover that usually keeps the water out, but I guess the rain was just too much this time. Anyway, I have had it with drying out and cleaning soaked and mildewed interior cushions, so I am thinking of replacing all the interior cushions with some sort of waterproof foam cushions. Material wise, I was thinking along the lines of foam pool floats or vinyl gym mats. Looked into custom sunbrella cushions, but the price tag is a bit excessive. Anyway… Wondering if anyone knows where I could find suitable waterproof interior cushions?

Check out Bottom Siders on this site. They make custom cockpit cushions but I'm sure they'll make exactly what you're looking for in any color you want. Have them on my boat and think they're great.

Check with local boat dealers
They can tell you who they recommend for repairs. I'd guess that most shops can do the whole package. Several years ago we decided to replace the original cushions (couldn't stand the funky shower curtain pattern on some of the bigger pieces). The local guy we found just used the old foam as a pattern. He did a great job at a very fair price, and we've been happy with the results for 4 or 5 years now. The navy with a little tweedy gray thread in it looks great. If you spend much time below, especially if you sleep aboard, don't aim too low on quality/price. This is a good chance to upgrade a bit. Boat cover manufacturers. They might be able to fabricate sunbrella at a better price. There is a good one on US 40, east of Indy, just outside Cumberland before you get to Greenfield. Can't remember the name. BTW, I am from Indy, We sail on Brookville. Where do you sail? Regards, Jeff
