Hello! We had new inside cabin cushion covers made this winter for our O'day 25 (cost of fabric only, sewn by a family member for free)and are wondering if we made a mistake. Is there a fabric specifically designed for use in marine interiors? We used a rugged polyester/cotton blend purchased at a fabric store similar to what might be used on a piece of furniture in a home. Might there be a product on the market to "spray" on our fabric to allow it to withstand the marine environment better? If you have any experience on this subject your advice is greatly appreciated. Happy Sailing Rick

Yep

Rick - There are a number of fabrics intended for use in a damp (Marine) environment including most of the ones you see outside (sunbrella, etc) and some interior ones you'll find at marine stores. They come in two flavors, some are made of stuff that tends not to rot (acrylic) and some are coated. Some are both. I would hit up a local awning company, as some of their materials are suitable. That said, there are sprays that purport to make things more waterproof and safe from mold. Try products designed to protect automobile seats or house furniture. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
